Eight is Great

Quick synopsis of the day, then I'm off to try and sleep cause it's been a long one!

~Shea woke me up, and subsequently everyone else, at 6am. He 'didn't want to miss the last few hours of being 7". We took pictures of him at 8:07 when he was 7 and at 8:08 when he turned 8. He then declared that "Eight is great!"

~Our day got rolling and I managed to get some cleaning done and the cake partially decorated before we headed to school for Tenley's preschool graduation. Yes, it was a very emotional day for mama.

~After we watched Miss T do some pomp and circumstance we headed home so Nate could get to work and I could get ready for the birthday luncheon.

~Decorated, prepared food, wrapped presents and ate the lunch Shea chose.

~Opened presents, had cake, played with presents and proceeded to make a run to ToysRUs after Shea decided that he was "rich" due to all of the birthday money. Thanks to everyone for being so generous, Shea was very wise in his spending and has retained most of the money for his trip to the Smithsonian on Saturday. He also surprisingly figured out his 10/10/30 amounts and that made me very proud. We teach the kids that 10% is tithed, 10% is donated and 30% is saved. The rest is theirs to spend. He did a great job picking out a lot of flowers to plant and some Magnetix and Hot Wheels track. Plus he got a neat Garden Journal from Tenley and a nature sleeping bag from Devan. Daddy got him tickets to a showing of Night at the Museum Battle of the Smithsonians for tomorrow afternoon and mama gets to treat him to a Smithsonian day on Saturday.

~After ToysRUs we headed home to play and head to bed. Shea had a really great day!
